What measures have been put in place to stop the disease from happening in the future?
Today, the Minamata disease remains as an important issue in Japan as lawsuits against Chisso and the prefectural and national governments are still continuing. The Minamata disease has not fully been solved but actions have been taken to try to prevent the disease and problems from the disease. Like the ban of fishing, the compensations and the stop of producing any more acetaldehyde (which came to the improper disposal of waste containing mercury)… Only time will change and hopefully solve the problem because nothing else is being done about the Minamata disaster.
